Roosters

Strengths: The premiers have an exciting side with many of the qualities being able to be replicated in the upcoming season, with a boost to the young players like Victor Radley and Joseph Manu now having big progression in their game with consistent starting roles. It will ultimately strengthen combinations and balance the team.

Flaws: The right side edge of the Roosters – with a new recruit in Crichton and the loss of Ferguson – will now have to reshape such a deadly attacking side. Trent Robinson will need them defensively sound by round one for the best chance of the title being defended in 2019.

Sharks

Strengths: A balanced and strong veteran side, Cronulla will once again push for higher honours with additional signings but also having the combinations of Matt Moylan and Chad Townsend blossoming even further, with their attack being one of the most potent in the league especially down their left side with Wade Graham once again.

Flaws: Losing Luke Lewis is a big flaw going into 2019; rookies Scott Sorenson or Kurt Capewell are waiting in the sheds to take that position, one of these players will need to be on song straight away for the combination with Townsend to remain and have options other than their left. Much of the side picked up injuries late so managing these players will need to be high on the agenda so their title charge isn’t faulted as it was in 2018.

Titans

Strengths: Much of the side is taking shape and some developing young players will be even better this next season. With AJ Brimson and Ash Taylor growing in the halves, it will see their contributions increase. The injection of Tyrone Peachey and former Titan Tyrone Roberts will be welcomed to add more threatening playmaking options.

Flaws: Not too many flaws for Titans now that the coach has more value in his side, however, the right formation in the starting squad and the bench knowing where to play the high profile signings will be a game-breaker for Titans if not done correctly.

Tigers

Strengths: Michael Maguire will bring his own style to Wests; his high completion game plan will benefit the young side to grow and stick to basic rugby league, strengthening the defence that was built in this past season but allowing the attack to advance and be more free-flowing.

Flaws: The Tigers attack was the second worst in the league, and with a new head coach the deep concern will be if it will work for them to change enough in just one pre-season to become stronger in 2019.
