In recent years, matches between the two clubs has been decisive in regards to who makesย Old Trafford come the end of the season.

However, with so much going on at the event, could Steve price and his Wolves be distracted with the fanfare of the occasion?

“I’m more focused on anย 80 minute performanceย against a quality football team in Wigan,” he says. “I’m not really worried about all the other games and all that that kind of Jazz. My main focus is to keep evolving and keep improving.”

The 39-year old has brought the magic back to the club, includingย a memorable win against Leeds at Headingley,ย with a 22-33 win over last season champions.

Although the Australian has only been at the club for 6 months, he has had many good moments. But what has beenย his highlight so far?

“I’m just really,ย reallyย happy with the chemistryย among theย whole club and how it’s building from the playing group to the coaching group andย administration board,” he said.

“I feel that we are heading in the right direction and that’s the most pleasing thing; that togetherness from bottom to top.

“But in saying that, we fully understand that we need to keep keeping improving to get where we want to go too!”

With the Wolves sitting third in the league, they have a lot of rugby left-ย  with the quarter finals of the Challenge Cup to come and theย possibilityย of theย Superย League Grandย Final inย October, the Wire are well and truly engulfed in the demands of the rugby season.

So what are Steve Price’s expectations for the rest of 2018? His ambition is clear for all to see, but it is his level head that makes the Australian such a truly special coach.

“Our aimsย was alwaysย toย be a top fourย footy team,”ย heย says. “Weย haveย goalsย and where we want to get to but it’s not about looking tooย far ahead of ourselves cause if you do that then things can change quite quickly.

“We need to keep working hard at training, keep challenging each other and enjoy each other’s company, but also to challenge people to be better as football players and as people.”
