South Sydney fullback has played with an injury at the back end of the NRL season.

Latrell Mitchell is unlikely to be available for the end of season Kangaroos test matches after playing through the latter parts of the NRL season with a hand injury.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Mitchell will approach Australia’s coach Mal Meninga to advise he is unavailable for matches against Samoa and New Zealand to be played in October. His hand will require surgery.

Mitchell played 16 matches for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2023 but was ruled out with a calf injury before the opening State of Origin match which led to a prolonged period on the sidelines. He returned in round 22 when South Sydney defeated Wests Tigers at Tamworth by 32-18.

South Sydney only won two matches in his absence from the side.
