No more home games at ANZ Stadium, we’re moving back to the west.

That is a sentence every Wests Tigers fan in Australia has been waiting to hear for a long time.

In a move that is sure to make every Tigers fan happy, the club has announced they will be moving four home games from ANZ Stadium to the new Western Sydney Stadium starting in 2019, until at least the end of 2022.

The club also announced they will be committed to playing three home games a year at both suburban homes of the Wests Tigers, Leichhardt Oval and Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Both of these announcements are huge wins for the culture of the club.

For many years the fans and players have had to put up with playing almost half of all their home games at a stadium that is not their own.

Whilst ANZ Stadium is a great stadium when it’s full, it’s not what the Tigers need as a home ground.

Just take a look at the spiritual home of the Tigers, Leichhardt Oval.

Every time the Tigers play there, it’s filled with some of the most passionate fans and members in the NRL, and the Wayne Pearce Hill is always packed to the brim.

They are basically a part of the game because they are sitting so close, and there’s no doubt the players can feel the energy.

Now I’m not saying Western Sydney Stadium is going to be able to replace or replicate the atmosphere at Leichhardt Oval, because there is no ground in the country that can do that.

But when it’s complete, the new stadium will hold 30,000 people when full, and will provide fans with the steepest grandstands in Australia, which will ensure regardless of seating position, everyone will still be close to the action.

Not only that, but it’s going to have state of the art facilities for players, and will offer fans a wide range of exclusive corporate hospitality options, which is going to give us the type of stadium viewing experience we’ve all been craving.

If we can create an indescribable atmosphere at a small suburban ground like Leichhardt Oval, imagine what we will be able to do at Western Sydney Stadium which holds 30,000 people.

It’s new, it’s exciting, and it’s all for the Wests Tigers.

No more home games at ANZ Stadium.

For the first time in years, we will be able to watch the Tigers play in a first-class stadium that is exclusively their own.

I’m excited, and if you’re a Tigers fan, you should be too.

  1. Parramatta stadium is for the eels only. Home bush is next to lidcome where the magpies use to play. ANZ has easy parking . West tigers record was way better when the tigers played at anz. You’re article is stupid.
