Overcoming Obstacles
In the first half of the season many of Hull Kingston Rovers’ problems have been inconsistent performances and are still to win back-to-back with Smith at the helm. However, Red Robins have won half of their games under their new head coach.
Hull Kingston Rovers look like a different side in recent weeks and you can tell by looking at the little things, such as putting pressure on the kicker and better game management.
However they still continue to struggle away from KCOM Craven Park having only recorded four wins in all competitions. With four games left, Rovers are on the road to Catalan Dragons, and Salford Red Devils at AJ Bell Stadium on the last day of the domestic league table.
The East Hull side will need to start picking up more away wins if they are to survive in Super League.
Defying The Odds
When players believe in themselves, they have the ability to beat anyone on their day. That has been what’s happening under Tony Smith.
His first win as Hull Kingston Rovers coach was against one of his former teams Warrington Wolves. It was a result no-one thought possible.
Since then Rovers have beaten their neighbours Hull FC, Leeds and Castleford. They still have Catalan and Salford to play which will be their toughest tests in these last four games.
One factor Hull Kingston Rovers are most consistent in being inconsistent, so to even think of which Rovers side will turn up is quite difficult to predict.
