Captain of the Year: Cameron Smith
It may seem like an easy get out to give this award to Cameron Smith but after the season he has had, particularly in his role of leading Melbourne to their 3rd straight grand final appearance, he’s a shoo in for Captain of the year. Losing key playmaker Cooper Cronk didn’t seem to affect Melbourne, as they saw their courageous captain step it up a level further in 2018. His influence in the middle of the park is what made the Storm successful this season.
