Castleford Tigers stand off Ben Roberts insists that the league leaders have a tough finish to the season ahead of this weeks clash with the Leeds Rhinos.

The Tigers have defeated Leeds three times this season and will be going into the match with full confidence, knowing that momentum will play a key role in getting them to Old Trafford and possibly Grand Final glory. However before all that they face three of Super League’s most challenging sides in the shape of Challenge Cup winners and runners up Hull FC and Wigan Warriors.

But full focus will be on this weeks game insisted Ben Roberts, who expects a massive response from the Leeds Rhinos following their previous losses against the Castleford Tigers.

“We have got Leeds this week, then Wigan and Hull. They are probably three of the toughest teams you could get at the back end of the season,” said Roberts.

“For us it is a good opportunity to build a bit of momentum and get our game right heading into the semi-final.”

Castleford defeated the Huddersfield Giants in round four of the Super 8’s having trailed 12-6 at half time, but tries by Greg Eden, Luke Gale and Ben Roberts himself saw the Tigers come home with the two points.

Roberts wants to see improvements in the side following last weeks game, which saw them giving away penalties constantly aswell as basic handling errors.

“We probably started off a bit slow and were a bit scrappy, but we knew if we could push the reset button and go again we had what was needed to get the win,” said the Tigers stand off.

“We conceded a couple of soft penalties and we knew if we could clean that up and get our attacking game right we would be able to come away with the win. It was going to be probably the toughest game to get up for mentally out of the last four.”

“Hopefully we can improve on that against Leeds, but the second half was a bit better.”
