South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced the re-signing of their key forward, Sam Burgess for a further five seasons.

Burgess has been with the club since 2010 and appeared for the Rabbitohs on 160 occasions.  He was pivotal in the club breaking their premiership winning drought back in 2014 when they beat Canterbury Bulldogs 30-6.  This contract will finish in 2023 at the age of 34.

It keeps the Burgess boys together for at least the short term with brothers George and Tom contracted to the club until the end of 2019.

This is a boost for the Rabbitohs on the eve of the finals series, their first under coach Anthony Seibold.  Their 2018 campaign has been a vast improvement on finishing in twelfth in the past two seasons.  They travel to Melbourne for their clash against the defending premiers on Friday night at AAMI Park.

“Since he’s been here at the Rabbitohs he’s demonstrated how much Souths means to him and I’m very happy to know that he will finish his career here at South Sydney.”, Anthony Seibold told the South Sydney website.
