Venue: Emerald Headingley
Kick-off: Friday 6th November, 5:30pm
Head-to-Head
Last Five Results: Salford 12-22 Wakefield (01/03/20), Salford 44-20 Wakefield (16/6/19), Wakefield 33-22 Salford (31/3/19), Salford 38-4 Wakefield (20/4/18), Wakefield 14-12 Salford (09/2/18)
Preview
Friday’s opening game at Headingley sees a rejuvenated Wakefield side taking on Salford. Both teams are playing their second game within a week and have been in good form of late, barring the Red Devils hefty defeat to Wigan.
Wakefield have made wholesale changes to their squad after a hectic schedule with the likes of Tom Johnstone, Bill Tupou, Reece Lyne, Jay Pitts and Craig Kopczak all returning.
Salford have Niall Evalds back in the squad, while Luis Johnson is also included in place of Joey Lussick. Rhys Williams will miss out. That means Lussick has played his last game for the club before he heads to National Rugby League side Parramatta Eels in 2021.
Prediction
Both Trinity and the Red Devils have been playing well but Salford’s extra quality could see them over the line on Thursday evening. Salford were deducted three wins earlier in the week, meaning they can now only finish as high as ninth and would leapfrog Wakefield with a win on Friday evening.
