Gareth O’Brien’s Million Pound Drop Goal (2016)

Salford Red Devils were minutes away from suffering relegation from Super League back in 2016, trailing Hull KR 18-10 in the Million Pound Game. However, two tries at the death from Niall Evalds and Greg Johnson, the latter scoring with the final play in normal time brought the teams level and sent the game into golden point extra-time. Just one minute into the extra period, Gareth O’Brien kicked a drop goal from close to the half way line to hand the Red Devils a 19-18 win and complete a miraculous turnaround, with defeat ending Hull’s 10-year stay in Super League.
