One of the surprise packages of 2019 saw Salford Red Devils enjoy a remarkable season, coming within 80 minutes of claiming Grand Final success. Ian Watson’s charges put together a fine run of form towards the end of the season before playing out of their skin to defeat Wigan Warriors in the play-offs. Having started the season at odds of 150-1 to win the competition the Red Devils made rugby league fans believe that anything was possible until falling short against St Helens in the Old Trafford showpiece.
