Easter Weekend
This year’s traditional Easter weekend fixtures saw record crowds flock to Super League grounds across the country. A new attendance record of 79,173 fans attended games over Thursday and Good Friday with more than 22,000 watching the clash between Wigan and St Helens at the DW Stadium. There was also in excess of 20,000 fans at the Hull derby, with Leeds and Warrington welcoming crowds of 11,000+ and just under 10,000 at Castleford.
Nou Camp Adventure
The Super League game between Catalans Dragons and Wigan in May was played in front of a record 31,555 crowd at Barcelona’s Nou Camp stadium. The crowd was the biggest attendance outside a Grand Final and Catalans, playing as the home side, made good on their chance to impress, recording a 33-16 victory. The French side impressed Barcelona with their Challenge Cup triumph the previous season and will no doubt have endeared themselves further to the Catalan side after a thumping five-try success.
