Winger Fetuli Talanoa has signed a one-year contract extension with Hull FC.
The 30-year-old has been an integral part of the side since joining in 2014, scoring 55 tries in 113 appearances for the Black and Whites.
Only St Helens pair Ben Barba and Mark Percival have scored more tries this season than Talanoa’s 12, despite the former Tongan international currently sitting on the sidelines with injury.
He has helped Hull to back-to-back Challenge Cup titles in 2016 and 2017 and consecutive top four finishes, and now remains in East Yorkshire until the end of 2019 with the option of a further year.
Talanoa was one of the first signings that Lee Radford made as Hull FC coach, and he was delighted to tie him down to a new contract.
“I’m over the moon to have Fetuli tied down for next year,” Radford said. “He’s a big part of the culture we have here and he’s been a real revelation since joining in 2014.
“He was a left-field signing but has proved to be a fantastic addition over the last few years.”
Talanoa admitted that it was an “easy decision” to re-sign with the club for 2019 and has targeted an Super League Grand Final appearance this season.
“Signing a new deal is something that I’ve been thinking about for a while now,” he said. “I knew I needed to put in some good performances at the start of this year to earn a new deal and I’m glad I did that.
“We need to keep picking up the wins, especially at home. So hopefully when I return we’re in a really good position going into the Super 8s.
“It was a great two years to hold the Challenge Cup. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be this year but that now means we can concentrate on getting to Old Trafford and hopefully add some silverware to our collection.”
