Jimmy Keinhorst has been recalled from his loan at Widnes Vikings by Leeds after injuries suffered by Rhinos players at Magic Weekend.

Jack Walker (leg), Kallum Watkins (knee) and Nathaniel Peteru (bicep) all had to leave the field, adding to an injury list that already includes experienced forwards Brad Singleton and Mitch Garbutt as well as stand-off turned centre Liam Sutcliffe.

Keinhorst initially joined the Vikings on the 12th April on a four-week loan before that deal was extended last week. The new agreement meant the German international would stay with Widnes but gave Leeds the option to recall him when required.

Due to Challenge Cup fixtures, which Keinhorst was ineligible for, he made just three appearances during his time at the Halton Stadium. One of those came in the 38-18 loss to St. Helens at St. Jamesโ€™ Park on Saturday, a game in which he scored his only try for the club.

Widnes coach Dennis Betts said: โ€œWe would like to thank Jimmy for his time and effortsย  at Widnes Vikings and wish him all the best for the season ahead. We are also grateful to Leeds Rhinos for facilitating this loan.โ€

Keinhorst returns to Leeds ahead of their trip to Perpignan on Saturday as they look to end a two-game losing run in Super League.
