The 24-year old had really made a name for himself in the Championship this year and has secured a dream move to the DW Stadium.

With fellow centres Dan Sarginson and Oliver Gildart currently sidelined, Hankinson could be brought into the 19-man squad for the Warriors’ huge clash against St Helens.

The centre has made 20 appearances for the Lions this far in 2018, scoring six tries. To compensate for the loss of the 6’1 attacking back, Wigan have sent Craig Mullen, Joe Brown and Macauley Davies on loan to Swinton for the remainder of the season.

Swinton and Rochdale are currently battling it out to avoid finishing the regular season at the foot of the table, with the sides separated by points difference on the ladder.
