The Broncos have all but secured a grand final spot in a thumping 20 – 0 win over the Roosters, whose season now hangs by a tread.

Looking slick in attack and fierce in defence despite poor weather conditions, this is the Broncos sixth win in six NRLW games, making them a serious threat of going back to back.

The Broncos started the match with more points than minutes, with Annette Brander bursting over the line in the third minute. It was then only five minutes before Amber Pilley stepped through defenders to score, and a successful conversion by Chelsea Baker saw them reach double digits before half time.

It looked like the floodgates would open early in the second half, with forward Rona Peters crashing over under the sticks in the 31st minute.

Brisbane looked dangerous as their left edge sped down the field with a few slick passes, but solid defence by Corbin McGreggor saw winger Julia Robinson stopped in her tracks. It was under a minute before Brisbane next scored through, when a perfect chip and chase by fullback Ali Brigginshaw saw her beat scrambling Roosters defenders to the ball.

Despite some desperate defence from the Roosters, it was too late for even a consolidation try.

In order to repeat last years grand final effort, they will not only need to win next week, but hope the Dragons beat the Warriors this weekend, and that Brisbane beat the Warriors next weekend.
