This Sunday afternoon clash features two of the most inconsistent sides of 2023.
While Canterbury-Bankstown have shown promise, they’ve lost their last two to slip to 15th. The 34-30 score against Canberra in Magic Round flattered them and they trailed the Warriors 18-0 at half-time before losing 24-12. A horrible injury toll hasn’t helped though.
The Titans are almost impossible to get a read on. They followed up their Magic Round win against Parramatta (26-24) with a heavy loss to Newcastle (46-26), conceding eight tries. Despite this, they’re still in touch with the top eight.
The Titans have a good recent record against the Bulldogs, winning three of the last four (dating back to 2020).
There’s a big inclusion for the Bulldogs, with Josh Addo-Carr returning, while Karl Oloapu also returns. After missing last year’s Origin series, The Fox can push for a late NSW call-up, which is dangerous for the Gold Coast.
While Erin Clark is back for the Titans, Alofiana Khan-Pereira has dropped out, with Aaron Schoupp set to play his first match since Round 7. Khan-Pereira’s tryscoring power (12 in 10 games) will be missed, especially if it turns into shoot-out, with Addo-Carr’s inclusion swinging this game Canterbury’s way.
