Report
Parramatta were back on their home track at CommBank Stadium and didn’t disappoint their faithful as they put on an exhibition in the opening forty minutes to lead 30-6 at half-time.
With eight line breaks to one, Parramatta crossed five times in the first half with Clint Gutherson scoring two and being denied a third as he lost the ball in attempting to score.
Newcastle was poor in defence conceding 34 missed tackles before the break.
After being penalised against the Panthers recently for a hair pull on Jarome Luai, Newcastle may have felt aggrieved not to receive a penalty on half-time for Maika Sivo’s hair pull on Dominic Young.
Gutherson completed his hat-trick six minutes after the break and the Eels scored their seventh try of the night through Junior Paulo after an offload by J’maine Hopgood with eleven minutes left on the clock.
In a bleak night for the visitors, Kurt Mann left the field in the first half with an abdominal problem. It was their worst loss since July 22 last year where they lost to the Roosters 42-12 at McDonald Jones Stadium.
