Reports in Australia are suggesting that former St Helens second rower Joe Greenwood could be about to make a return back home to Super League.

The 25-year old signed for Gold Coast Titans before the start of the 2017 campaign, but has fallen out of favour since Garth Brennan took over from Neil Henry, who originally signed the Englishman.

Greenwood made 22 appearances for the Titans last season, but hasn’t been selected in any of Brennan’s 21-man squads since round three this time around.

He is currently playing for feeder team Burleigh Bears in the Queensland Cup and has made six appearances so far in 2018, although five of those were off the bench.

Having played just 189 minutes of reserve rugby this year, Gold Coast seemingly want to cut ties with their once-hot prospect, with Titans head of football Phil Moss stating that “if there was a good opportunity he [Joe] wanted to pursue, we would be happy to let him go”.

Despite firm interest from three northern hemisphere sides- understood to be reigning champions Leeds Rhinos, newly-promoted Hull Kingston Rovers and Canadian outfit Toronto Wolfpack, Greenwood is only into the second season of his three-year deal and is reluctant to leave.

When speaking to the Gold Coast Bulletin, Joe expressed his love for the area and insists that he is willing to fight for his chance to wear a first-team jersey for the Titans, who currently sit 12th in the NRL.

โ€œIโ€™m here for the long haul,” said Greenwood. “Itโ€™s a beautiful place to live so Iโ€™ll just wait for my opportunity and see what comes from there.

โ€œItโ€™s a beautiful lifestyle and all the boys are great here [at Burleigh] and at the Titans.

โ€œI just need to keep the match fitness up and wait for the call when it comes.โ€
