After round 1, the NRLW is exceeding expectations and set for a great first season. The Brisbane Broncos and Sydney Roosters are sitting in first and second after two big wins, with New Zealand Warriors and St George Illawarra Dragons trailing in third and fourth.ย

Game 1: Sydney Roosters vs New Zealand Warriorsย

This match was a brilliant start to the NRLW season, with the Warriors beating a skilled Roosters team 10-4. The Warriors strong forward pack couldnโ€™t be matched by the Roosters, with the Warriors scoring in the 12th and 17th minute. The match looked close after a 27th minute try to gun centre Isabelle Kelly, but the Warriors defence was too strong to see a comeback.ย

If winning their trial against the PNG Orchids wasnโ€™t enough, the Broncos have kept their strong start to the season smashing the Dragons 30-4 in front of a home crowd. The Dragons struggled without their full strength side, after key second rower Talesha Quinn hadnโ€™t been cleared by the army for the match, as well as the losses of halfback Raecene McGregor due to a shoulder injury, and winger Jessica Sergis to concussion. After trailing 18-4 at half time, the Broncos were too strong for the Dragons to overcome.ย
