2. Nathan Cleary – Penrith Panthers
20-year-old Nathan Cleary suffered a devastating injury earlier in the year that kept him side-lined for a number of weeks, however prior to the injury he had been one of the best for the Penrith Panthers, improving his game while working alongside club newcomer James Maloney. He has been a consistent player for the Panthers this year, creating seven try assists and scoring two of his own. Cleary’s strong performances provided him with the opportunity to be selected to make his State of Origin debut for the NSW Blues.
