Hull FC are likely to be without star half-back Jake Connor for the remainder of the season.
Connor had to come off during Friday’s 34-18 defeat to St Helens, and the club have now confirmed that he suffered a high grade hamstring tear.
That means he is set to miss the rest of the 2018 campaign in another massive injury blow for coach Lee Radford.
“It is disappointing for Jake, he has been excellent this season but that is the way our season has gone so far.
“I’ve said it all season, I’ve never known anything like it. We’ve got 12 or 13 players missing this week, it’s one of those seasons but we’ll keep battling on and keep fighting until there are no more fights left.”
Albert Kelly has become the latest to be sidelined after suffering a concussion, while the club are also monitoring the fitness of Mickey Paea and Chris Green ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wakefield.
Hull have been without many major stars for a number of weeks, including Jamie Shaul, Josh Griffin, Fetuli Talanoa and Marc Sneyd.
Connor had been ever-present this season for the Black and Whites, with his performances leading to an England debut against New Zealand in Denver last month.
