Huddersfield Giants humiliated try-less Hull FC 55-2 in their Magic Weekend clash at Anfield.

Huddersfield scored 10 tries as they beat Hull 55-2 to claim the club’s biggest-ever victory at Magic Weekend.
Brothers Joe and Jake Wardle, crossed early as both scored for in successive matches to put Huddersfield in control.
The opening try came courtesy of a defensive mistake from Hull’s Jamie Shaul, which allowed Wardle to sneak in and place the ball with ease.
The Giants were 21-2 up at half-time, with Adam O’Brien and Darnell McIntosh putting them further ahead at Anfield.
It was one-way traffic for the entire match as FC never got going – credit Huddersfield for that- and O’Brien and McIntosh both crossed again in the second half.
Alex Mellor, Aaron Murphy and the ever-scoring Jermaine McGillvary (2) also ran over the whitewash to complete the resounding victory.
The Giants’ win comes off the back of their victory against their opponents cross-city rivals Hull Kingston Rovers, and have now won three of their last seven matches.
Hull had been boosted by the return of prop Josh Bowden from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, but struggled to deal with an energetic Huddersfield and never really looked like notching a try.
Catalans’ earlier win over Wakefield means the French club retain third spot in Super League as Hull squandered the chance to put Steve McNamara’s side under pressure.

Huddersfield showed up
There probably hadn’t been a game this season in which the Giants hadn’t made any costly errors – but that changed today. Huddersfield were simply immaculate from start to finish and were unlucky not to hit 60.
FC were diabolical
They’ve given out a few hidings in this campaign already, but FC were well and truly handed one of their own in this ‘contest’. The West Hull side need to do much, much better if they want to challenge the top three places.
The Giants shouldn’t be where they are
Looking at today’s game, you would’ve thought Huddersfield were the ones vying for third spot – and, in truth, they should be higher up the table. This win will give them immense confidence and we should expect them to build upon it
The gap to the top teams isn’t that big after all
Many fans and pundits alike have said that the quality between the top and bottom of Super League is growing every season, but this result shows otherwise. If the underdogs step up and the favourites are complacent, anything is possible in England’s premier Rugby League division.
