4. Finally, we have a draw
On Friday you could be forgiven that the National Rugby League was teasing the rugby league world with the first two rounds of the new draw. It’s an absolute miracle that the league has been able to produce two rounds so quickly. It’s a complicated process which can take months to complete and usually involves bids from clubs to get their preferred home game opponents. The next hurdle for the game is choosing venues on a shoestring budget.
It’s been reported north of the border that all Queensland club home games could be played out of Suncorp. That’s disappointing news for the Cowboys with their new stadium potentially to be left untouched all season following their grand opening. The facilities at Suncorp at excellent, but the ground hire will be expensive. Does this pave the way for the boutique stadium at Redcliffe to get a crack at hosting NRL games?
