The standout match from the 2012 Magic Weekend, the first to be staged in England since its inception five years earlier, was the Hull derby. Hull FC held a commanding 14-point lead with 15 minutes left to play before a pair of late tries moved Hull KR within two points of their local rivals. With one-minute left to play David Hodgson collected a pass from Kris Welham inside his own half before burning past Will Sharp on a 60-metre run up-field and dotting down in the corner to hand Rovers a 32-30 derby victory which sparked wild celebrations amongst the travelling supporters inside Manchester’s Etihad Stadium.
