The Play-Offs

Reverting to the same play-off system used between 1998-2001, this year’s play-offs made for much better viewing than its previous incarnation and the Super 8’s. The Super 8’s limited the number of teams able to reach the Grand Final and felt like a foregone conclusion, however, giving teams second chances, and an extra play-off spot to fifth-place, made for a truly thrilling end to the Super League season. Each game was played like a final and at the highest intensity with Wigan’s 18-12 Qualifying Final win against Salford proving to be one of the games of the season.
