Match Preview

Saturday eveningโ€™s hosts could hardly be in less consistent form, having alternately won and drawn their last four matches. Their impressive 38-18 away victory against Wakefield Trinity was sandwiched by two home defeats to Warrington Wolves; one of which in the Challenge Cup quarter finals, before the French side got back to winning ways with a hard-fought 27-10 triumph over Hull FC at the KCOM Stadium.

The visitors to the Stade Gilbert Brutus this weekend, meanwhile, are flying. Saints have made a perfect start to 2021, winning all six of their league games so far, and made the last four of the Challenge Cup after a close shave against Huddersfield Giants โ€“ edging the encounter 23-18.

Itโ€™s been over two years since Catalans last beat the current cream of the crop, but the 18-10 victory back in April 2019 will breed fire into the Dragonsโ€™ hearts โ€“ as will the stunning 35-16 win on their way to Cup glory in 2018. St. Helens, though, are a different beast now. Theyโ€™ve scored a staggering 156 points and conceded just 34 โ€“ thatโ€™s less than one converted try per game โ€“ as they look to go about bossing the Super League yet again.

Hopefully Catalans can give them a run for their money to give us another enthralling meeting, and Iโ€™m sure they will, but the unchanged Saints should have enough.
