Wigan Warriors Vs Catalan Dragons

Date: 09/03/23, Kick-off Time: 20:00 GMT, Venue: DW Stadium

Wigan Warriors 21-Man Squad: Wigan: Jai Field, Bevan French, Toby King, Jake Wardle, Liam Marshall, Cade Cust, Harry Smith, Brad Singleton, Sam Powell, Liam Byrne, Willie Isa, Liam Farrell, Morgan Smithies, Mike Cooper, Kaide Ellis, Ethan Havard, Kai Pearce-Paul, Patrick Mago, Brad Oโ€™Neill, Abbas Miski, Junior Nsemba.

Catalan Dragons 21-Man Squad: Arthur Mourge, Tom Davies, Adam Keighran, Matthieu Laguerre, Tyrone May, Mike McMeeken, Micky McIlorum, Julian Bousquet, Paul Seguier, Benjamin Garcia, Mickael Goudemand, Tiaki Chan, Arthur Romano, Siua Taukeiaho, Jordan Dezaria, Tom Johnstone, Bastien Scimone, Manu Maโ€™u, Ugo Tison, Loan Castano, Tanguy Zenon.

Catalan go into this game as one of two sides with a 100% record after the first three rounds. Although, itโ€™s Wigan who look the more settled and ready for the new season. Dragons have picked up three good wins, albeit their first two were a real struggle and battle, their latter, a more rounded, comfortable win against Hull FC. They havenโ€™t been helped by injuries and go into this with further losses in Rouge and Navarrete.

Meanwhile, Wigan are again unchanged and look in fine fettle to continue their current dominance, after gaining a 96-0 combined win in their last two games. They are scoring some superb tries and the in form Marshall has eight tries from his first three games. They look a good, defiant side and one I think will be much too strong for the French outfit on Thursday.

Prediction: Wigan by 20 points

Huddersfield Giants Vs Castleford Tigers

Date: 10/09/23, Kick-off Time: 20:00 GMT, Venue: The John Smith’s Stadium

Huddersfield Giants 21-Man Squad: Esan Marsters, Jake Bibby, Tui Lolohea, Theo Fages, Chris Hill, Nathan Peats, Joe Greenwood, Josh Jones, Chris McQueen, Luke Yates, Ashton Golding, Matty English, Harry Rushton, Adam Oโ€™Brien, Olly Wilson, Leroy Cudjoe, Harvey Livett, Olly Russell, Nathan Mason, Jack Ashworth, Will Pryce.

Castleford Tigers 21-Man Squad: Greg Eden, Jordan Turner, Mahe Fonua, Bureta Faraimo, Gareth Widdop, Jacob Miller, George Lawler, Paul McShane, George Griffin, Kenny Edwards, Alex Mellor, Joe Westerman, Nathan Massey, Alex Sutcliffe, Adam Milner, Albert Vete, Muizz Mustapha, Daniel Smith, Suaia Matagi, Jason Qareqare, Liam Watts.

This is a big, big match for Castleford. Sounds daft to say so early in the season, but theyโ€™ve started with three defeats, and itโ€™s now cost them the job of head coach Lee Radford. They go into this game with Andy Last in temporary charge. A defeat here wonโ€™t end their season, but I think they need to show a bit of something for their fans. Theyโ€™ve a tough run coming up and this seems the most likely winning opportunity.

Huddersfield grinder out a low scoring win last week at Wakefield and got their first win of the season. They havenโ€™t got going yet this year and they do seem likely to have a good season, so things will start clicking sooner than later. With the ever-anticipated debut of Jake Connors looming, Giants will want to start clicking and make his introduction an easier process.

Prediction: Huddersfield by 12 points

Leigh Leopards Vs St Helens

Date: 10/03/23, Kick-off Time: 20:00 GMT, Venue: Leigh Sports Village

Leigh Leopards 21-Man Squad: Zak Hardaker, Tom Briscoe, Ed Chamberlain, Ricky Leutele, Josh Charnley, Joe Mellor, Lachlan Lam, Tom Amone, Edwin Ipape, Robbie Mulhern, Joe Wardle, Jack Hughes, John Asiata, Ben Nakubuwai, Gareth Oโ€™Brien, Matt Davis, Jacob Gannon, Tom Nisbet, Kai Oโ€™Donnell, Ava Seumanufagai, Joe Shorrocks.

St Helens 21-Man Squad: Jack Welsby, Tommy Makinson, Mark Percival, Jon Bennison, Jonny Lomax, Lewis Dodd, Alex Walmsley, James Roby, Matty Lees, Morgan Knowles, Joey Lussick, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Agnatius Paasi, Jake Wingfield, James Bell, Dan Norman, Ben Davies, Sam Royle, Lewis Baxter, Tee Ritson, Wesley Bruines.

I cannot believe this is not the Sky Sports game this week. After last weekend, this has the potential to be a belter, and another upset defeat for Saints. Iโ€™m predicting a tight win for Leigh, but this could also be an easy win for the World Club Champions. After letting a 24-12 lead slip at home last week, Saints will be hoping for much better, especially in defence, which was uncharacteristically below par against a defiant Rhinos side.

Leigh got their first win of the season with what was a fantastic comeback against an in form KR side, at Craven Park. Theyโ€™ve been unlucky in their opening two games and finally got over the line here, they look handy and a side that could cause a few upsets this year. With Saints being down a few yet again, due to suspensions, this may be their best chance to defeats the Super League Champions.

Leeds Rhinos Vs Wakefield Trinity

Date: 10/03/23, Kick-off Time: 20:00 GMT, Venue: Headingley Stadium

Leeds Rhinos 21-Man Squad:

Richie Myler, David Fusituโ€™a, Harry Newman, Nene MacDonald, Ash Handley, Blake Austin, Aiden Sezer, Zane Tetevano, James Bentley, Rhyse Martin, Cameron Smith, Jarrod Oโ€™Connor, Sam Lisone, Derrell Olpherts, Tom Holroyd, James McDonnell, Sam Walters, Luis Roberts, James Donaldson, Corey Johnson, Leon Ruan.

Wakefield Trinity 21-Man Squad: Jorge Taufua, Corey Hall, Reece Lyne, Tom Lineham, Lee Gaskell, Mason Lino, Eddie Battye, Liam Hood, Jai Whitbread, Matty Ashurst, Jay Pitts, Jordy Crowther, Liam Kay, Renouf Atoni, Lee Kershaw, Kevin Proctor, Morgan Smith, Samisoni Langi, Rob Butler, Sam Eseh, Dane Windrow.

It was some win for Leeds last week. An unbelievable one when you see their start to the season. To go to the home of the Champions, in a packed out Totally Wicked Stadium, be 24-12 down and win it, in the dying seconds, outstanding. That alone will do their confidence and belief a world of good and I donโ€™t think this could be a better game to follow all that up with.

Wakefield are arguably the worst side in the league (so far). Having been kept scoreless in their last two games, now losing Lewis Murphy for the season, it goes from bad to worse for Trinity. I canโ€™t see anything, but a Leeds win here and I think itโ€™ll be another long night for Applegarthโ€™s men. They are a team struggling and one in desperate need for a miracle and a bit of magic on the pitch. It just wonโ€™t happen this week.

Prediction: Leeds by 24 points

Hull KR Vs Warrington Wolves

Date: 10/03/23, Kick-off Time: 20:00 GMT, Venue: Craven Park

Hull KR 21-Man Squad: Lachlan Coote, Tom Opacic, Ryan Hall, Sauaso Sue, Matt Parcell, George King, Frankie Halton, Elliot Minchella, Jez Litten, Rhys Kennedy, James Batchelor, Matty Storton, Jimmy Keinhorst, Will Dagger, Mikey Lewis, Rowan Milnes, Dean Hadley, Louis Senior, Sam Wood, Luis Johnson. Sam Luckley.

Warrington Wolves 21-Man Squad: Matt Dufty, Josh Thewlis, Peter Mataโ€™utia, Stefan Ratchford, Matty Ashton, George Williams, Josh Drinkwater, James Harrison, Daryl Clark, Paul Vaughan, Ben Currie, Matty Nicholson, Sam Kasiano, Danny Walker, Tom Mikaele, Joe Bullock, Greg Minikin, Riley Dean, Tom Whitehead, Luke Thomas, Leon Hayes, Matty Russell.

This is probably one of the toughest games to predict this week. Itโ€™s two good sides, in good form going at it early in the season. These games wonโ€™t define either sideโ€™s campaigns, but itโ€™ll do them a world of good in picking up the win. KR lost their first game last week, in what theyโ€™ll see a disappointing defeat against Leigh. But these are the games Craven Park look forward too. Home games against big teams, they always turn up.

Warrington look good and are the form side after the first three rounds. Williams is on fire and ready for a big season in where heโ€™ll be in the shouts for Man of Steel. They look a more organised, settled and season ready squad in 2023, a much different prospect than 12 months ago. This is their first real test of the season, and one I actually think KR will narrowly win. Itโ€™ll be a good game and a shame itโ€™s another that miss out on TV coverage.

Prediction: Hull KR by 6 points

Hull FC Vs Salford Red Devils

Date: 11/03/23, Kick-off Time: 15:00 GMT, Venue: MKM Stadium

Hull FC 21-Man Squad: Tex Hoy. Adam Swift, Darnell McIntosh, Jake Clifford, Ligi Sao, Danny Houghton, Chris Satae, Andre Savelio, Jordan Lane, Brad Fash, Joe Lovodua, Joe Cator, Kane Evans, Cam Scott, Jack Brown, Josh Griffin, Davy Litten, Will Gardiner, Jamie Shaul, Scott Taylor, Brad Dwyer.

Salford Red Devils 19-Man Squad: Ryan Brierley, Ken Sio, Kallum Watkins, Tim Lafai, Brodie Croft, Marc Sneyd, Jack Ormondroyd, Andy Ackers, King Vuniyayawa, Chris Atkin, Danny Addy, Tyler Dupree, Shane Wright, Adam Sidlow, Ellis Longstaff, Amir Bourouh, Rhys Williams, Matt Costello, Deon Cross.

With the smallest squad in super league and that horrendous news of Partington and Burgess set for lengthy layoffs, this season seems to be getting harder for the Red Devils. This game wonโ€™t be that much welcomed, a game they lost 48-16 last year, and with the players missing and Hull FC needing to respond after last week’s defeat, it may not be fair off the same score this Saturday.

Hull FC started their season really well and the. Got brought back down to earth with last week’s comfortable defeat in the south of France. They are a good team at home and have looked dangerous in attack before last week. Salford will need to repeat their first half performance against Warrington to stand a chance in this game. With low numbers and injuries aplenty, Salford are struggling to hit some form in 2023.

Prediction: Hull FC by 18 points
