The first weekend of the Intrust Super Cup finals series has been completed with victories to the Townsville Blackhawks and Sunshine Coast who proceed to next weekend’s Elimination final.
The third placed Townsville Blackhawks had a big win over the sixth placed Easts Tigers in Townsville. A tight first half left the home side with a 16-4 lead at the break, but they opened up in the second half scoring six tries to none to run out 46-4 winners.
The Sunshine Coast Flacons did it the hard way by being the first side in over two years to defeat the PNG Hunters on home soil. They led from start to finish, and got out to a 12 point lead halfway through the second half, before a few late Hunters tries made for a close finish.

The QRL released the fixture list for next weekend’s second round of the finals.
Saturday sees the elimination finals whilst Sunday’s TV Game will be between the top two sides, both looking for a direct path into the Grand Final.
