1. Rugby League supports Rob Burrow’s fight with MND

In December 2019, Leeds Rhinos great Rob Burrow was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Since the devastating news, the rugby league community has rallied behind the 38-year-old, with a fund set up in his name.

On-field, the Wigan Warriors wore a special embroidered shirt against Leeds in August, where each player came up with a word to describe Burrow. The jumpers were auctioned off as part of the fundraising.

Some other notable fundraising events include former teammate Kevin Sinfield’s seven marathons in seven days, and Castleford Tigers forward Oli Holmes riding 700 km in seven days.

Despite his battle with MND, Burrow has still raised the level of awareness for the debilitating disease. In all, the Burrow family has been inspirational during the last 12 months.

It would not be out of place if Burrow was to receive an MBE in the 2021 New Year’s Honours.
