Parramatta snuck by a late South Sydney comeback attempt to prevail 22-16, doing their very best to entrench themselves in the top eight in the bye weeks.
Moses ready already in blue and gold
Mitchell Moses was about to play the Rabbitohs again, and it was to be the third time in twelve weeks he plays them – so you would expect he’d learn their structures they take in D and work out a way to exploit them. He did. Moses appeared on both sides of the ruck to wreak havoc on South Sydney’s indecisive defenders who weren’t sure whether to hold off or commit to tackles. Instead, they were only embarrassed as they grasped at thin air.
Stars disalign for Rabbitohs
Cody Walker went for the ball on a Parramatta grabber, only to have an airswing and have to watch as Beau Scott flopped on the loose ball for a try. Adam Reynolds put up the ball high and long – and out on the full. Robbie Farah was not as electric from dummy half as he has been, and wasn’t the man that ruined the Tigers so much Ben Elias called for a blue jersey. Rough day at the office.
Semi firing on all cylinders
Semi Radradra, now removed from the domestic violence allegations (of which they will always stay given Semi was found not guilty) that dominated the headlines, went off on Friday night. Running for just a touch under 200 metres and getting a four pointer of his own, the Rabbitohs didn’t have an answer for the big and powerful Fijian winger – boding well for a long term return to form for Semi.
Madge roast all too late
A camera in to the Rabbitohs dressing room after the game from channel nine gave us an idea of what Michael Maguire thought about the Rabbitohs performance on the night. Madge unloaded with a flurry of anger and passion we can only assume came about after limply surrendering soft tries from kicks and shifts the Rabbitohs of old wouldn’t let in – and when the Gladiator himself checks in with a somber look on his face it’s obvious all is not well in Redfern.
