Three unbeaten teams becameย none after the completion of the Intrust Super Cup Round 4 as Townsville, Wynnum and PNG Hunters allย lost their first games of the season on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
It leaves the top of the ladder jam packed with 5 teams on 6 points, two teams 1 point further back, and another three teams another point back.
At the other end of the ladder, it continues to be a miserable year for the Gold Coast based sides with both Tweed Heads and Burleigh remaining winless after the weekend.

The Sunshine Coast Falcons beat Ipswich 34-4 for a second consecutive away win against former premiers after seeing off the Northern Prideย in Cairns last weekend. The loss leaves the Jets with just a first round win against Tweed Heads to show for 2017.
Souths Logan Magpies broke the Bears hearts on Saturday at Pizzey Park as Sam Scarlett slotted a last minute field goal to break the 18-18 deadlock. It was a change in fortune from last weekend where the Magpies were unable to convert after the siren to draw against the Hunters. Burleigh remain winless in 2017.
Central Capras beat theย Tweed Head Seagullsย to continue their progress in 2017, and heap a little more pain onto the Seagulls 2017 season. The loss for the Tweed made it two losses from two for Gold Coast sides this weekend in the Intrust Super Cup, and two losses from two for Gold Coast sides at CBUS Stadium on Saturday night.
Mackay Cutters surprised the previously unbeaten Wynnum Seagulls on Saturday evening atย Wynnum as they turned around a heavy defeat to Townsville last weekend. Goal kicking proved the difference as both sides ended up with four tries a piece, but the Cutters kicked 3 from 4 compared to Wynnum’s one.
Redcliffeย beat Townsvilleย in a low scoring gameย at Dolphin Oval on Saturday night. The Blackhawks only points came from a 78th minute try, after Redcliffe scored early and led 12-0 at half time. The two competition favourites are now on 6 points from their first four games.
Easts Tigersย continued their good start to 2017 with a big win overย the Northern Prideย for the TV Game at Suzuki Stadium on Sunday as they ran in 7 converted tries to 2. Khan Ahwang scored all of the Pride’s 12 points, but more impressive was the hat trick for the Tiger’s Gerard McCallum.
The biggest surprise result came from the season’s surprise packets so far asย Norths Devils took a rare win for any side in Port Moresby over the Hunters.ย The PNG Hunters were unbeaten in PNG for over 2 years before losing in the first week of the finals last season, and they have now lost two of their last three. Chris Sandow made his first appearance in the Devils colours, and his arrival combined with their early season form makes them a genuine challenger for finals and beyond this season.
