In the major story of the week, Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr made the headlines for breaching current COVID-19 restrictions to have a “cultural weekend” with friends and family on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

Most concerning are the firearm charges laid against the pair by New South Wales police.

This may not have come to light if it wasn’t for the posts on Instagram going “viral”.

Did Addo-Carr (156k followers) and Mitchell (200k folllowers) think they wouldn’t draw the attention of their followers, let alone the media, law enforcers, or the National Rugby League hierarchy for their weekend away?

Are the actions of Addo-Carr and Mitchell a sign of arrogance, or typical of the rebellious nature of today’s youth?

No wonder Craig Bellamy was furious at the attention drawn to his club, instructing his players to stay off social media.
