After being a key player in their campaign to the grand final, Dragons centre Jess Sergis has won the 2019 Female Dally M Award.

Up against teammate Bo Vette-Walsh, Warrior Charntay Poko and Bronco Millie Boyle, it was a tough competition but a well-deserved win by Sergis, who this season has three tries, a try assist, 21 tackle breaks and an average of 153 metres to her name.

Both in her crunching defence and speedy attack, Sergis has been a marquee player in both seasons of the NRLW, but this year has seen her become almost unstoppable.

An emotional Sergis thanked her family and partner, Dragons player Zac Lomax, but paid special tribute to her teammates and coaching staff.

“In all my football career I never thought I’d be up on stage receiving this award, so I’m so honoured and so grateful.. I wouldn’t be up here without my Dragons team, my second family, my coaching staff,” she said in her acceptance speech.

“We’ve worked so hard to get into this Grand Final on Sunday and I can’t wait. We’ve got one more week together and one more game, I can’t wait to get that Premiership.”

At age 22, Sergis debuted for the Jillaroos in 2017, and since been a regular inclusion in the New South Wales and Jillaroos sides.
