However, the club has struggled since losing in the Old Trafford showpiece more than three years ago, having been the standout team that season.
His side looked bereft of ideas when returning to action post lockdown last season.
Cas are arguably the most entertaining side in Super League when playing at their free flowing best, but Powell’s time at The Jungle could be coming to an end should their struggles on the pitch continue this term.
