Owner Derek Beaumont has stated that since his Centurions side were promoted via the qualifiers last season. “However it comes whether we have to fight in the Million Pound Game, we must survive”

2017 will be a season that the Centurions fans will have to get used to one thing again. DEFEAT. Its been a very rare occurrence over the last few seasons when Leigh have tasted defeat, it happened only three times last season. But with promotion to Super League comes challenges they haven’t faced since their only season in the current top tier back in 2005 and with this the fans cannot start turn on their side if a bad run of results occurs.

But the Centurions squad has the potential to challenge for the top 8 this season in what promises to be one of the most competitive ever Super Leagues.

Key Players

Glenn Stewartย – One of the off-season signings for newly promoted side. The experienced Australian international and state of origin player may now in the twilight of his career but that experience will only help the Centurions in their debut season.

Mickey Higham –ย Captain of his hometown club, Higham started his career at the Centurions and came back half way through 2015. His leadership from dummy half will be very useful to their 2017 campaign.

Martyn Ridyard –ย Ridyard is getting his first crack at Super League after stepping up from Leigh Miners to the Centurions in 2009. Ridyard has taken the Championship by storm since then and will be hoping he can take his form into the top division.

Story of 2017

The signings of an Australian international has shown the Centurions are taking this crack at Super League very seriously once again, Their Challenge cup form of 2014 and 2015 may slide as they keep their aim on survival in Super League. They may challenge for the top 8’s but they may just miss out.
