The Broncos need a miracle if they’re to return to the finals fold in 2022 after a disappointing loss to the Dragons. Ben Hunt was the best on field leading the Dragons to their 12th victory of the season and giving himself every chance to bring home the Daly M Medal.

Jack Bird crossed for the first try of the match carrying Broncos defenders over the line in what was a worrying sign for the Broncos. While the Broncos managed to level the scores, their attack seemed to lack confidence despite finding easy metres up the middle of the field. Tyson Gamble and Patrick Carrigan looked dangerous but they were sloppy in attack and leaked a try late in the half after Ben Hunt came up with a 40/20 that turned the momentum.

The second half was a repeat of the first half. The Dragons came out quickly, scoring through Cody Ramsey, but the Broncos were able to gain momentum as the half wore on. They scored to bring the match back within 4 but were unable to kick on, looking nothing like a side trying to prove they should be playing finals. The match was in the balance in the final five minutes but when Ben Hunt created space out wide, he released Mat Feagai, who busted through a number of tackles to seal the match and effectively end any hopes the Broncos had of playing finals.
