1st Half

Gold Coast Titans came out for the first half energised off the back of a golden point win against St George Illawarra Dragons. They managed to convert their dynamic start through Jarrod Wallace in the 17th minute, crossing the try line off the back of a short range effort. Their lead didn’t last long, however, with Connor Tracey getting over for the visitors and Nicho Hynes levelling up the scores with his conversion. The game tightened up soon after and a number of error put paid to any attacking opportunities being scored in wet and slippery conditions, which meant the teams went into the half time sheds level at 6-6.

2nd Half

Cronulla fixed up their errors in the half time break and capitalised almost instantly with Nicho Hynes crossing for a try just over two minutes into the half. The Sharks continued to apply pressure to somewhat of a shocked Titans side and scored two in quick succession to stretch the lead to 24 points after a faultless kicking display by Nicho Hynes. The first of which came from Ronaldo Mulitalo, while the second try was an extremely impressive kick return try that fullback Lachlan Miller covered over 70 metres to score. The two sides then traded sets as Gold Coast Titans tried to get back into the game and eventually did with Jarrod Wallace crossing for his second of the night. The Titans didn’t stop there, however, and Esan Masters scored with a great dummy just over three minutes from full-time to set up a grandstand finish. The excitement didn’t last long though with Jarrod Wallace knocking on straight after the kick off and Nicho Hynes consequently putting the game away with a one-point field goal soon after.
