MATCHDAY PREVIEW

The opening match of round 10 sees the Dolphins take on the Sea Eagles in what’s set to be a blockbuster at Suncorp Stadium.

For the Dolphins, Herbie Farnworth returns from injury at centre, replacing Tesi Niu who drops out of the side with an ankle injury. Kenny Bromwich also returns on the bench with Kurt Donoghoe dropping back to 18th Man.

The return of Herbie Farnworth is a big boost for the Dolphins. Not only because of what he brings in attack, but his lockdown defence is world class in the centre position. This week he’ll be up against Reuben Garrick, so he’ll have his hands full. The Dolphins are shooting for four straight wins for the first time in club history. They come into this one full of confidence after securing a comeback win over the Cowboys in Townsville, which is always a tough place to win.

For the Sea Eagles, Lachlan Croker failed his HIA last week, so will miss the game. He’s replaced in the starting side by Karl Lawton, with Gordon Chan Kum Tong the new man on the bench. Ben Trbojevic returns from a hamstring injury in the back row, with Ethan Bullemor moving to the bench. Nathan Brown drops out of the 17 with a hip flexor injury.

The Sea Eagles would still be reeling from their defeat at the hands of the Raiders last week, where they surrendered a 20-point lead in front of their home fans. Now they have a two-game road trip to Suncorp Stadium, with their first opponent being The Dolphins. The return of Ben Trbojevic adds a lot of versatility to their side, but defensively they’ll need to be on their game if they’re going to stop the Dolphins, who are scoring plenty of points of late. Gordon Chan Kum Tong could add some real impact off the bench if he can isolate Dolphins defenders in the middle and combine with a flying Tom Trbojevic.
