The Sydney Roosters have defeated St George Illawarra in the traditional ANZAC day match, 13-6 in front of over 40,000 fans.
Pearce kicks field goal to win
Mitchell Pearce kicked the field goal in golden point to secure the victory for the Roosters after playing a terrific game for his side. Mitchell Pearce wouldโve been nervous and definitely working up a sweat after the game went into golden point after not being able to kick a field goal since 2011, against the Gold Coast Titans. The drought ended when Pearce lined up for kick and it went straight through the middle of the posts, which allowed for the Roosters to defeat the Dragons in an intense contest.
Pearce had missed 18 field goals previously to Tuesday’s Anzac Day 2017 game.
ย Widdop Injured in 150th game
Gareth Widdop came limping off the field just before half time and turned out he suffered a medial ligament injury in his left knee.
He was shown with a knee brace on his left leg during the second half, confirming he had done something quite serious.
His absent on the field was evident but his side which unable to hold off the Roosters after they lost by 1.

Frizell worth every cent
Frizell had one of the most impactful games this season for his side the Dragons. Unfortunately, his effort was enough to take out victory he had a huge game in the red and white in hope to pull off the victory at Allianz Stadium.
Frizell made an impact after running a total of 139 run metres and a line break for the Dragons.
His contract has him signed with the Dragons until 2020 and if remains fits, Iโm positive clubs will be fighting for him as he puts 110% in each game.
Record crowd
A huge 40,864 fans showed up to support the ANZAC tradition of these two teams going head to head. They didnโt disappoint being another close match with only one point dividing the two sides.
Great to see so much support out at Allianz Stadium to commemorate the ANZACs.
