Paul Green has re-signed as coach of the North Queensland Cowboys until the end of 2021.

Having taken the reigns in 2014, Green took the Cowboys to their maiden premiership win in 2015 and against all odds backed it up with last year’s Grand Final appearance in going down to Melbourne Storm without Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott.ย  He is also the most successful coach at the club having won 59.5% of his 116 games in charge.

Green is set to eclipse Graham Murray’s record number of 161 games and seven season at the club with the contract extension.

He will lead the Cowboys into life after Johnathan Thurston who will retire at the end of the season.

โ€œThe future looks very bright for our club as we usher in the next generation of talent and prepare for a move to our new home stadium from 2020.”, Green told the Cowboys website.

โ€œThere is no question it is an extremely exciting time to be part of the Cowboys as we charge ahead into a new era.โ€

It’s been a frustrating start to the Cowboy’s 2018 campaign having lost their previous five matches, sitting fifteenth on the ladder.
