Widnes host Castleford at the Select Security Stadium on Sunday in round four of Super League. Both sides come off the back of round three with points in the bag. The home side claimed their first last week, while Castleford continued their unbeaten start with two more.
Last Time Out
Widnes came from 14-6 down to draw 14-14 with Catalan in Perpignan last Saturday and will be galvanised by their comeback. But Denis Betts’ men will also feel disappointed as two more successful conversion attempts, that were eventually missed by full-back Rhys Hanbury, would have given the Vikings both points.
Meanwhile, Castleford’s steam train rolled on as they humiliated Leeds Rhinos in a 66-10 victory at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle in the previous round. Both Greg Eden and Greg Minikin scored hat-tricks as the pair climbed to six tries for the season already. Luke Gale continued to impress and Junior Moors was hugely influential in the Tigers’ forward pack.
Key Battle
This game could be decided by wing play as Casteford’s deadly duo of Eden and Minikin look to add to their respective tallies for the season. Half-back Gale will also play a key role in setting up the former two.
It will be up toย Corey Thompson, Patrick Ah Van and Stefan Marsh to see who can stop the rampant Tigers attack, but the trio could be outplayed.
Prediction
Castleford will have too much in attack for the injury-plagued Vikings and this could prove an easy win for Daryl Powell’s side –ย Castleford by 26.
