This Thursday night match-up sees the bottom two teams go head to head. Both Widnes and Warrington fans will not need reminding on how poor their start to the season has been with Warrington marginally ahead on points difference in the Super League table.

Last time out

Widnes put on a fairly dismal display last weekend against the Wakefield Trinity losing 30-4 with only Corey Thompson scoring for the Vikings, leaving them still on three points after only one win this season.

Warrington registered their first win of the season last week against Leeds, beating them 25-14. Tries from Lineham, Gidley and a brace from Ryan Atkinsm meant the Wolves leap-frogged over Widnes into 11th position.

Key battle

Stefan Ratchford is one of the most underrated players in the Warrington side. Although wearing the number one shirt this season, the former halfback is another form of attack going forward. Widnes have Rhys Hanbury in a similar role and whose kicking has been vital for Widnes in the past couple of seasons.

Prediction

Widnes have Joe Mellor and Chris Dean back from injuries but are still without many key players. Warrington are without Ben Westwood, who was given a four-game ban and Mike Cooper is still out with an ankle injury so Jullien and Savelio come into the 19-man squad.
