Newcastle Knights have added Mason Lino to their 2019 roster with the New Zealand Warriors signing until the end of 2020.

Lino has been impressive for the Warriors in the halves but faced an uphill battle to play regular top grade football with Shaun Johnson and Blake Green who is off contract at the end of 2020.

In three seasons, he played seventeen times for the Warriors and has appeared twice for Samoa at International level.

This signing adds to an impressive recruitment drive with the signing of Storm forward Tim Glasby, along with Jesse Ramien and Edrick Lee from Cronulla.

There’s been speculation that Newcastle are trying to off-load Nathan Ross after a disappointing 2018.  Ross’ elevation to the Knights in 2015 has seen him become a cult hero at the club having scored 23 tries in 60 matches.
